CAREER ORIENTED COURSES
The college has a vision of offering courses of contemporary relevance and needs with a blend of modernity and tradition. It seeks to provide skills, knowledge and environment to students to develop a scientific temperament, imbibe social sensitivity and shape careers for the betterment of the self and the society they live in.
In keeping with its vision, the college has started UGC approved Career Oriented Certificate Courses from the session 2006-07.

2. Data Care Management 6 months
3. Sericulture 6 months
The above courses run parallel to the existing conventional B. A., B. Sc. And B. Com. Degree courses
OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSES
The objective of the courses is to introduce career and market-oriented skill enhancing add-on courses that have ability for job, self-employment and empowerment of the students.
FACULTY
The faculty comprises highly qualified progressive and competent teachers. Individuals having expertise in the concerned discipline are invited from time to time as visiting faculty.
ABOUT THE COURSES
1. BIO-INFORMATICS:
It is a newly developing branch of science that deals with Biology and Information Technology. It incorporates the development of data-bases to store and search data and of statistical tools and algorithms to analyse determine relationships between biological data sets such as molecular structures, expression profiles and biological pathways. It is mainly used for map genomes, discover new therapeutic targets and design drugs aimed at the targets.
The course is conducted in collaboration with DOEACC Centre ( an autonomous body of Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India ), Guwahati.
2. DATA CARE MANAGEMENT:
Computers and connectivity are very much useful for learning and efficient management. The course comprises Fundamentals of computer, Elements of Data Processing, Data Communication, Financial Accounting with Tally etc. The course is useful in shaping career in view of modern trend of data processing.
3. SERICULTURE:
It is an agro-based cottage industry. Rearing of silkworm through proper maintenance of its food plants in a scientific way and production of silk is termed as Sericulture. India occupies the second position among silk producing countries in the world besides being the largest silk consumer.
The course deals with the general concept of sericulture, kinds of silk worm, sericultural activities Mericulture , pest and diseases of different food plants and control measures, Muga silkworm, Eri-silkworm, Tasar culture, Cocoon harvest etc.
Sericulture offers many advantages such as-
a)Helping to keep the rural population employed.
b)Job opportunities in Sericulture Directorates of State Governments.
c)Jobs in Banks, private sericulture farms.
d)Self employment as an entrepreneur.
In view of its growing demand in India and abroad, sericulture is projected to be a career oriented course.
