INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)
IQAC was formed in 2004 and is approved by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC). This cell is utilised to generate good practice, ideas, planning, implementing and measuring the outcome of academic and administrative performance of the institution.
SUBCOMMITTEES For the smooth and efficient management of the affairs of the college, several subcommittees are formed mostly with the teachers along with office staff, members of Governing Body, Donors, Guardians and University nominee members to help the principal. The following subcommittees are working efficiently at present in the college.

Women’ Hostel Committee, 8. Boys’ Hostel Committee, 9.Career Counseling Cell, 10. Computer Subcommittee, 11. Website Management Subcommittee, 12. Health Care Subcommittee, 13. Examination Conduction Board, 14. Grievance Redressel Cell, 15. Discipline Subcommittee etc.
EXTENSION WORK Extension work is considered to be the third dimension of the institution and considered as important as the other dimensions teaching and research programmes on Community Development, Medical Camp, Environmental Awareness, Health and Hygiene awareness etc. are organized periodically by the Digboi College Women Welfare Cell and Digboi College Science Society.
ACTIVITIES OF WOMEN’S WELFARE CELL Women Welfare Cell takes care of the girl students of the college and raise awareness about their modern day problems like dress code, sexual harassment in public place, work place, street play etc. by organizing interaction sessions with teachers and renowned academicians. It organises several extension activities like medical campus in villages, environment awareness campaigns etc. It has organised the following activities in 2007-08.
1. Awareness programme on legal rights of women.
2. Free health check-up for pregnant and lactating mothers.
3. Free eye check-up camp for school students.
The cell also earned laurels to the college by securing 3rd position in chorus competition organised by Tinsukia District Zonal Committee, ACTA, held on 10.1.2008 at Women’s College, Tinsukia.
COMMUNITY SERVICES The college gives emphasis on community services and organizes such activities now and then (It organized a socio-economic survey at Rangchangi Gaon, Lakhipather on 16th November, 2007 in collaboration with Digboi College Teacher’ Council). It organized a “Health Camp” at Lakhipather Nimna Prathamik Vidyalaya on 10th May, 2008 in collaboration with IOCL(AOD) Hospital, Digboi.
Recently the college has adopted a village of Borbil No. 3, Digboi for its development.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES Digboi College encourages its students to join the movement dedicated to enriching education by presenting a holistic vision of Indian Culture. The college has joined the SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youths) in 1999. A number of programmes of the great Indian Classical Maestros for school and college students were held in the college. A rendition on flute performed by Pandit Ronu Majumder, an acclaimed artist was held in the college on 5.8.2008 under the aegis of SPICMACAY.
The students of the college participate in the cultural activities during college weeks, different occasions and intercollege competitions.
GAMES AND SPORTS The college organised Inter-College Teachers’ Cricket Tournament (Tinsukia District Zone, ACTA) in 2006 and Inter-College Volleyball Competition (Dibrugarh University) on 29.12.2008.
HEALTH CARE CENTRE There is a health care centre, which provides periodic medical cheek-up under the supervision of a medical practitioner. Efforts are made to arrange lectures on HIV/AIDS and other public health problems. The unit organized a free Health Check up camp on 7th April’09 for the students and employees of the college.
Recently on 7-4-2009, Digboi College Health Care Centre organised a free health check up camp at Digboi College premises on the occasion of World Health day.
NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC) The NCC unit is the pride of the college. Every year a good number of students attend state level and national level camps. The unit earns laurels for the college. Quite a good number of NCC cadets of the college have found suitable employment as signal officer, warrant officer etc. Sri Dhiraj Pandey of our college achieved a rare distinction by representing India in the Youth Exchange Programme held in Bhutan in 2007 under a scheme of Royal Govt. of Bhutan.
Senior Under Officer Robi Kumar Shub participated in Republic Day Parade and PM Rally at Delhi from this college in 2008-09.
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) NSS unit is an integral part of our college. Students participate in different activities like Adult Education Programme, Village Development, plantation, Cleanliness drive and other extension activities. The unit organized a free medical camp at Kath Gaon L.P. School, Tingrai on 28th Mach ’09 in collaboration with IOCL (AOD) Hospital, Digboi.
STUDENTS’S COUNSELLING AND PLACEMENT CELL There is students’ counseling and placement cell for students. Students are offered this facility as and when required. The college organised a talk on Emerging Business Opportunities on 6.11.2007, delivered by Sri Prafulla Saikia, General Manager, Director of Industries, Tinsukia and Sri Pranab Bora, Engineer. The college also organised a career counseling programme conducted by Dr. Gauranga Kumar Sarmah, faculty member of Assam Management Institute, Guwahati on 15.11.2007. The career counseling and placement cell organised a talk on ‘Prospects of Management Studies’ on 22.04.2008. The talk was delivered by Sri Ranjit Singh, faculty, Centre of Management Studies, Dibrugarh University.
The students’ counseling and placement cell also offers placement assistance to students. ICICI Prudential Bank conducted a campus interview in the college on -------- .
Recently the college has launched a placement assistance project in collaboration with India Career Portal, Mumbai, from which the final year Degree students will be benefited.
DIGBOI SCIENCE SOCIETY
The teachers and students take active part in the activities of Digboi Science Society a branch of Assam Science Society. Most of the portfolios are held by the teachers of Digboi College. Digboi College has made an MoU with Digboi Science Society to work together. The college has a “Student Science Club” which is engaged in increasing scientific temperament and social sensitivity among people and students in particular.
ACADEMIC BODIES
The faculty members of the college are associated with the academic NGO’s like Assam Science Society, Assam Academy of Mathematics, Society for Chemical Education, Assam etc and they are actively involved in holding Mathematics Olympiad, Chemistry Olympiad, National Talent Search Examination etc.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES The college encourages the teachers to participate in research works, refresher courses, seminars, conferences, workshops, and publication works etc. in order to update their knowledge. The college deputes many teachers to prosecute higher studied like M. Phil., Ph.D. programme etc. time to time.
COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMME A computer literacy programme for teachers and office staff was conducted in the college from 1st March to 31st March 2008 to improve the quality of teaching-learning process and office works. More such programmes will be taken by the college in future to enhance the computer literacy among the teachers, Office Staff and even the 4th Grade employees.
STUDY CIRCLE A ‘Study Circle’ is formed by Digboi College Teachers’ Council. The circle holds talks, self composed poem recitation and other creative works to bring the talent of the teachers to the fore.
BOTANICAL GARDEN The college has a Botanical Garden having medicinal plants, orchids etc. The aim of making the garden is to create interest in plants among students. Students are encouraged to develop hobbies like gardening, mushroom cultivation etc.
NATURE CLUB The College has a Nature Club. Recently it has undertaken a project sponsored by Assam Science Society. The project includes construction of a vermi compost plant, improvement of Botanical garden, cleanliness of college campus etc.
ECONOMIC FORUM The “Digboi College Economic Forum” takes up some academic and extension programmes from time to time. It has organised two Teacher-Students Exchange Programme among the students and teachers of the colleges of Margherita Sub-division. The first programme was held in Digboi College and the participating colleges were Digboi College and Margherita College. The second programme was organised at Margherita College in which Digboi College, Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Margherita College and Ledo College participated.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION The college has an Alumni Association. The association sits periodically and makes plans for the development of the college. Many alumni have helped the college in the form of kinds.
