Free Health Checkup Programme by Digboi College Health Care Centre
A free health checkup programme was organised by Digboi College Health Care Centre, Digboi College on the 7th April, 2009 on the occasion of World Health Day at Digboi College, Digboi. A brief function was organised on the occasion by Digboi College Health Care Centre on the occasion which was presided over by Mr. M. Bharali Boruah, Principal i/c of Digboi College in Teachers’ Common Room. Mrs. Mamoni Sarma, Convenor of Digboi College Health Care Centre explained the purpose of the meeting. An alumnus of Digboi College and a reputed local physician Dr. Dwipen Borthakur who was invited as a guest Doctor explained the importance of World Health Day. Vice- Principal Mr. G. Kalita, Mr. T. K.. Sanyal, HOD of Department of Chemistry, Mrs. D. Hazarika, HOD of Department of Physics also spoke on the occasion. Mrs Rashmi Patowary of Department of Physics delivered vote of thanks.
After the function Dr. D. Borthakur initiated the health checkup process in the clinic of Digboi College Health Care Centre . He checked health of around 40 no of patients from employees of Digboi College and their family members and the patients were distributed free medicines.
Mr. Jayanta Handique successfully presented his reasearch paper in Hong Kong.
Mr. J. Handique, a Senior Lecturer in Electronicsof Digboi College, participated in the International Multi Conference of Engineers and Computer Scientists 2009 (IMECS 2009) organized by International Association of Engineers in Regal Kowloon Hotel, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon , Hong Kong Hong Kong during 18-20 March 2009. The Conference was organized by the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), a not-profit international association for the engineers and the computer scientists. The organising committees of IMECS 2009 were formed with over two hundred fifty members who were mainly research center heads, faculty deans, department heads, professors and research scientists from over 30 countries. The IMECS 2009 attracted more than one thousand participants from over 50 countries. A total of 1107 papers were submitted out of which 622 were accepted in IMECS 2009. Six separate parallel sessions were running in all the days from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm in the conference. Each participant was allowed seventeen minutes for presentation including questions and discussions in the conference.
Mr. Handique presented his paper titled “Hardware implementation of a Phase-Locked Loops for communication systems” on 19-03-2009 successfully with a good response from the participants. Moreover, his paper was recommended for Best Paper Award Competition in the conference. The paper is also included in the conference proceeding published by IAENG in soft and hardcopy. The paper will also be considered for publication in the special issues of the IAENG journals and book chapters to be published shortly.
This is the first time in the History of Digboi College that a lecturer successfully presented his Seminar Paper in an International Conference. All the faculty members, Office Staff and the Authority of the college congratulate Handique for his success in the historic event.
